7 Top Spots with the Best Views in Bangkok

For a special evening of fun, food and drinks under the stars, few places rival the rooftop bars and restaurants in the city, which all offer a spectacular Bangkok night view. But trying to figure out which one offers the best view, atmosphere, food, and drink can be time-consuming.

That’s why we’ve shortlisted what we consider to be the top seven rooftop bars and restaurants in the city. They all offer panoramic city views of Bangkok, as well as an upscale ambience, fine dining options, and cocktails. We’ve chosen a few along the river and a few in town to offer you a range of Bangkok cityscapes.

You should dress to impress when you venture out to enjoy an evening city view of Bangkok. This means that clothing that's suitable for the beach is not suitable for these bars and restaurants, unfortunately! The dress code is smart casual at all of the places on our list.

We'll start down by the river since it's one of the most popular areas in Bangkok. The Chao Phraya River can be mesmerising at night with brightly-lit boats moving slowly up and down over the water that glimmers with reflections of the city lights. Looking down on this beautiful view from many storeys up can simply take your breath away.

Sky Bar, Sirocco and Mezzaluna - Lebua State Tower

We’re putting Lebua State Tower first on our list because it offers three completely different entertainment experiences at the very top of the building overlooking the majestic Chao Phraya River.

Sky Bar and Sirocco at Lebua are lively and popular. One is an open-air bar and the other a fine dining restaurant, both on the 64th floor of Lebua State Tower. Although they can get crowded at times, whether for drinks or a full dining experience, an evening on the rooftop of Lebua State Tower is nothing short of exciting and memorable.

For those who appreciate good food as much as a spectacular view, we recommend you to book a table upstairs on the 65th floor of Lebua, at Mezzaluna. This is one of only three restaurants in Bangkok that share the distinction of having earned two Michelin stars for their cuisine. The ambience of the restaurant is no less impressive. With soft chamber music playing in the background, an evening at Mezzaluna offers some of the best progressive European food with a stunning atmosphere and an equally impressive panoramic view.

Lebua State Tower is at the foot of Silom Road. The Sky Bar and Sirocco restaurant are open daily from 4 PM to 1 AM. They offer a 5-course tasting menu for THB 5,100++ per person, with wine pairing for an additional THB 3,800++ per person. Reservations are recommended, simply telephone (+66) 02 624 9555.

Mezzaluna is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 6 PM until 1 AM. They offer a set menu for THB 6,500++ per person, plus a worldwide wine pairing for an additional THB 4,500 per person. Again, reservations are required.

Three Sixty Lounge Bangkok

This rooftop lounge on the Thonburi side of the river in the Millennium Hilton Bangkok on Charoennakorn Road offers both an outdoor and indoor area. But it’s the indoor area that’s most impressive. Resembling a spaceship perched atop the hotel, it offers a dramatic ambience, with soft jazz playing in the background and angled windows that look down on the river. The lounge has an extensive list of cocktails, beers and wines to choose from at moderate prices, considering the surroundings.

Outdoors, you can order a special picnic hamper on certain days that’s full of imported meats and cold cuts to enjoy with a glass of cold champagne from the bar. The Three Sixty Lounge is open daily from 5 PM to 1 AM. For more information, contact them on (+66) 442 2000.

Vertigo & Moon Bar – Banyan Tree Bangkok

Moving farther away from the river provides a different Bangkok city view. This completely open-air dining and drinking experience 61 storeys above Bangkok is very appropriately named. The long and thin nature of the building makes it seem like you’re floating on top of the city. Located at 21/100 South Sathorn Road, the Moon Bar, with its many colourful signature cocktails, is popular with local business people who want to treat their clients to the best sunset view in the city.

The restaurant features hearty, upscale international food including steaks, ribs and seafood that are all expertly prepared. Of course, they come with prices you’d expect from such quality dishes. Both the restaurant and bar are open from 6 PM to 10:30 PM. Make your reservations by calling (+66) 02 679 1200.

HI-SO Rooftop Bar – SO Sofitel Bangkok

Continuing north up Sathorn Road, the HI-SO Rooftop Bar is notable for its bird’s-eye view of Lumpini Park and its extensive menu of cocktails, beers and wines, as well as its burgers, steaks, and fish and chips. Looking out over a green expanse in the middle of the city while chowing down on excellent pub-style fare is a perfect end of the day activity for scores of businesspeople who flock to HI-SO after work.

Located on the 29th and 30th floor of SO Sofitel Bangkok, on 2 North Sathorn Road, HI-SO is open from 5 PM until 1 AM daily. For more information, call them on (+66) 02 624 0000.

Octave Rooftop Bar – Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit

Heading up to Sukhumvit Road, the Octave Rooftop and Lounge is a creative space that offers three floors, different atmospheres and plenty of seating right next to the railing for one of the ultimate Bangkok cityscape viewing experiences. The 45th floor offers an eclectic lounge with friendly staff and a slightly retro-funky décor. The cocktails are moderately-priced, and the menu is extensive without being overwhelming. They offer mostly small bites and dishes to be shared among friends.

A balcony bar awaits those who climb up to the 48th floor with plenty of seats near the railing for those who want to gaze out at the view. Ascend again up to the 49th floor, and you'll find a 360-degree rooftop with a round bar right in the centre. The Octave Rooftop Bar is located at the Bangkok Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit on Sukhumvit Soi 57. It's just a two-minute walk from the BTS and is open from 5 PM to 2 AM every day. Call them on (+66) 02 797 0000 for more information.

Above Eleven – Frasier Suites

On the 32nd and 33rd floor of the Frasier Suites building on Sukhumvit Road, Soi 11, you'll find Above Eleven. This eclectic, chilled-out rooftop bar features some of the most unusual Peruvian-Japanese fusion dishes you’ll ever taste.

The 180-degree view is of Sukhumvit Road and northwards. The food menu is a refreshing change from other rooftop bars, and the cocktail list offers great value for money. This bar is certainly for music-lovers, with the music changing with the days of the week: Salsa Night is on Wednesdays, Thursdays feature a live three-piece jazz combo, and during the weekends a DJ plays funky-house, disco and house music.

Above Eleven Bar is about a 10-minute walk from the Nana BTS Station. It’s open daily from 6 PM to 2 AM. For more information, call them on (+66) 02 038 5111.

CRU Rooftop Champagne Bar

Found on the 59th floor, the rooftop of the Centara Grand at CentralWorld is perhaps the most upscale bar along Sukhumvit Road. CRU Rooftop Champagne Bar features 360-degree views, an extensive snack menu with dishes from all over the world, and a large selection of G. H. Mumm Champagne on ice.

A glass of G. H. Mumm No. 1 Pink Champagne at CRU is THB 800, and a bottle of bubbly is priced at around THB 5,000. The dining choices include a great cheese board, fresh oysters, foie gras, Caspian Sea caviar, and a dish of deep-fried pieces of lobster, crab and corn.

This is a wonderful place to toast the sunset with an after-work glass of champagne. CRU Rooftop Bar is also a favourite on New Year’s Eve, as the site of Bangkok’s countdown is in the plaza below, just outside CentralWorld.
