Staying in Phuket is not just about clear seas and sands, you can be enchanted by this Sino-Portuguese style of town which is enrich by street arts and cultural heritage. Take these for examples and you wont be disappointed.


Popular Streets

There are several popular streets in Phuket Old Town which covers shrines, markets and museums. Check out below for the list.

  • Ranong Road: Phuket Town Central market, and Jui Tui Shrine.
  • Yaowarat Road: Starting from the Suriyadej Traffic Circle where Ranong, Ratsada and Bangkok roads meet.
  • Dibuk Road: Many shophouse architecture and also many nice sweet shops.
  • Phang Nga Road: Memory at On On Hotel, also, there are tailors, sweetshops and art galleries. Take Drawing Room for example.
  • Ratsada Road: The Thavorn Museum.
  • Soi Romanee: Shophouses, most are instagrammable.
  • Thalang Road: China Inn, Phuket Sunday Night Market. If small shops and eateries are what you are looking for, this is it.
  • Krabi Road: Thai Hua Museum

Street Art

If youre an art admirer, Phuket Old Town is definitely a place for you. You can walk around the area and can never get tired of seeing graffiti and street arts. Especially when it comes to seeing so many great works from Thais renowned artist such as Alex Face, Chacoal, Mue Bon and many more.

Wat Chalong 

When it comes to visiting temple, Wat Chalong or Wat Chai  Thararam is a must whether youre staying on short term or long term. Wat Chalong is highly respectable for Phuket people for long time, some sources said it was built in 1837. Also, this is the largest and most visited temple in Phuket. Wat Chalong is located on Chao Fah West Road in the northern part of Tambol Chalong

Big Buddha

Another place that is not far from Wat Chalong and shouldn’t be missed is Big Buddha, a 45-meter-tall white marble statue located on top of the Nakkerd Hills where can be easily spotted from anywhere in the southern part of Phuket. Therefore, you can enjoy with 360-degree view of the island such as Kata beach, Karon beach, and Chalong Bay.  Even though the road to get here has many curves, it is well-paved and easy to ride. The only thing to be concerned to get here is to drive slowly and carefully
