It’s going to rain a lot in Thailand over the next few months but while the locals love this season as it brings new beginnings, the visitors to Thailand feel that they might have picked an inopportune time to visit. Monsoon is the traditional low season for tourism in Thailand and especially Phuket. However, the fact is that there is plenty to do and see in Phuket even when it rains. Spend some time enjoying the phenomenal rainy weather of Thai monsoon but here are just some things you can experience if you want to do a little bit more from your day.

Spa Day

If not now, then when? Many tourists come to Thailand overworked and stressed out. Heavy workloads and long schedules are not just a mental drag but a physical one as well since the body is also ignored when the mind is focused on a task. Take this time to finally book that day-long spa treatment that you promised yourself. A top-rated Phuket spa is an excellent place for indulgent day-long or even days-long spa packages that cover everything from massages to facials and scrubs. You’ll feel like a brand-new person after a few days of getting pampered at the spa.

Play Indoor Games

Phuket is absolutely bursting with sports and games to play and so many of them are indoor activities. Afraid that you’ll miss out on wicked surf? Don’t worry because Surf House Phuket has indoor surfing in case you want to carve up some waves. You could actually make the whole day very interesting by competing with friends and family by creating an unofficial (or official!) tournament of games you can play. There are plenty of bowling alleys all across Phuket for a good, old-fashioned bowling tournament or even a day of arcade games with the young or the young at heart is a good idea too.

Visit the Shopping Malls

The huge shopping malls of Phuket take on an even greater role during periods of heavy rain as dry bastions of entertainment, food, family fun and shopping! Jungceylon Mall and Central Festival are both full of a huge variety of restaurants, cinemas, big brand shops and boutique stores. You could probably get a whole week’s worth of shopping.

Cultural Activities

If it is not raining too hard, perhaps you can use an umbrella and take a stroll through Old Phuket Town. The marvelous Sino-Portuguese architecture of some of the bungalows is hard to find anywhere and you get a real sense of how different Phuket must have been during that time. There is a clutch of other indoor attractions you can visit such as the Phuket Aquarium. You’ll be dry and safe indoors but you’ll still be surrounded by water and colourful marine life. Another favourite attraction is the Phuket Trickeye Museum, which features various forms of optical illusion-based art. Taking photos at the Trickeye Museum is fun for everyone. There are so many museums to choose from as well such as the Thai Hua Museum, Tin Mining Museum and the Thalang Museum to name but a few.

Water Park Fun

While it is completely normal to associate Summer time with splashing about in the water park, is is equally fun when it rains. If you’re already in the pool or splashing down a slide, there’s no way the rain can make you more wet than you already are! Splash Jungle is a great water park to spend a rainy afternoon getting even wetter but having lots of doing it!
