Phuket is an amazing Island in the south of Thailand. Known for its beautiful landscapes and beaches, it has almost everything one could ever wish for.

Fortunately for you, you’ve just scraped the surface of what Thailand has to offer. There are many great activities around Phuket that you should not miss out on. We will show you five interesting day trips that you should consider to make your Thailand journey complete.

Phi Phi Island

Arguably the most popular day trip around Phuket are the Phi Phi Islands. They offer great beaches along with clear water to dive in to. They became especially famous after the Film “The Beach”, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, came out.

Nowadays there are plenty of boat tours arriving here each day. You’ll have the option to take a speedboat including a buffet to get to Phi Phi Islands throughout the day.

Consider taking your trip as early as possible, this ensures that you will not run into big crowds.

Phang Nga Bay

This is a place you absolutely have to see with your own eyes to believe it actually exists. Phang Nga Bay has a cliff constellation that seemingly defies gravity.

Most tours include a kayaking trip so that you can explore on your own and take amazing photos that you wouldn’t otherwise be able to take by staying on a boat. Especially interesting is the “James Bond Island”, located within Phang Nga Bay. It received its name after it was seen in the 1974 James Bond movie “The Man with the Golden Gun”.

Being that Phang Nga Bay is among the most popular trips around Phuket, you can expect to encounter many tourists at this location.

Similan Islands

Known to be a beautiful diving location, the Similan Islands consist of 9 individual islands which are accessible by boat. They offer clear blue water with a stunning underwater world to discover.

Visiting the Similan Islands is great for those who’d like avoid crowded areas, as the islands are less popular than Phi Phi or Phang Nga. That doesn’t mean that they are less beautiful though.

The Similan Islands are the perfect place for fans of scuba diving, however, they are only accessible between November to April. The weather conditions outside of these months don’t allow for any visitors.

Khao Sok National Park

Khao Sok is a rather unique place being that is has some of the oldest rainforests on the planet. It’s located further north of Phuket and definitely required an early start in order to get there at a reasonable time of day.

Most tours consist of trekkings, Kayaking and Elephant tours through the rainforest. The most notable point of interest in this national park is Cheow Lan Lake, which is actually man made. There is a lot to see when you visit this park, from an extensive range of animals to impressive landscapes.

Khao Sak National Park is ideal for people that are looking for a trekking trip, or fancy some intimate nature experience.

If you stay at a long-term rental condo in Phuket, then you will have a chance to visit all of these places without a hurry. Most of these destinations are available via online booking, but you should also consult your local agencies that might be able to offer better prices. Prices will generally vary depending on which kind of transportation you choose. A speedboat will be more expensive than a bigger slower boat.

As a rule of thumb, you should try to arrive early at any of the mentioned destinations in order to avoid big crowds and make the most of your day.
