Pattaya is a city that never sleeps, the beachside town that rivals only Bangkok for it’s sheer volume of nightclubs and entertainment venues. A holiday in Pattaya is typically filled with plenty of time at the beach, shopping, great seafood and exploring the many attractions in the city. Despite its infamy as an adult entertainment hub, family travelers love Pattaya for the variety of great resorts, water parks and restaurants it has. But a much-overlooked benefit of visiting this town is that it is home to a number of beautiful parks. Find out more about which natural parks and zoos to visit on your upcoming vacation.

Nong Nooch Tropical Garden

Nong Nooch Tropical Garden has frequently been recognized as one of the most beautiful gardens in the world. The fact that it has up to 5,000 people visit its sprawling grounds daily tell you all you need to know. Open since 1980, the displays are spread over 1,700 rai and feature a range of magically landscaped gardens. The French garden is a must-see, a gorgeous imitation of the Gardens of Versailles. We recommend renting a bicycle to explore the vast hills and gardens so as not to miss any displays on your visit there. Besides basking in the beauty of the landscaped park, there are also elephant shows, spa facilities and restaurants to keep you entertained.

The Herb Garden

If you’d like a taste of nature while you’re in the heart of Pattaya, the Herb Garden is the place to go. The gorgeous flower and herb garden features an abundance of native species and flora, with plenty more to do including visiting the aviary, having a picnic, golfing or taking a tour. It’s the perfect destination to spend a hot afternoon in the shade with the family, over a picnic or cold beers. The Herb Garden also hosts a unique herbal market on the first Saturday of every month, a must-visit for those that would like to learn more about Thailand’s famous herb.

The Million Years Stone Park & Crocodile Farm

Just a 15 minutes’ drive from the heart of Pattaya, The Million Years Stone Park & Crocodile Farm is a must-visit for all nature purists. The enormous grounds are home to a variety of bonsai trees, rock gardens, exotic plants and gorgeous flower displays. It’s also the largest crocodile farm in the country, with hundreds residing across the grounds. They are also the proud owners of the largest catfish in the world. In addition to the crocodiles and exotic fish, the park is also home to tigers, horses, lions, bears and deer.

Nam Tok Chan Ta Then

The Nam Tok Chan Ta Then Waterfall Is located about an hour’s drive from Pattaya, so you’ll want to designate a good chunk of your day for this trip. The beautiful falls are perfect for escaping the heat – there are also two gorgeous hiking trails that lead up to the top. The good thing about this waterfall is that there are plenty of food stalls in and around serving traditional Thai fare such as Som Tam (papaya salad) with sticky rice. Don’t forget to bring a camera because the waters of the streams are splendid, as are the beautiful rock formations.
