Hua Hin has developed a well-founded reputation as a destination for art-lovers. The number of art galleries, exhibits and workshops are a testament to the town's love and acceptance of all things art-related.

This makes Hua Hin the perfect destination for an art-lovers holiday - the ideal place to spend the day on a beautiful beach, and the evenings strolling around art galleries and exhibits. Plus, this is a relatively small and quiet town. This means that you won't be battling traffic or spending much time on the road traveling to the different areas of town that feature art exhibits.

Art in Hua Hin comes in all forms. Music and dance are ably represented here. After all, this is the home of the Hua Hin Jazz festival, a weekend of jazz-focused musical performances that take place on the beach every May or June.

Hua Hin is also the home of the Lantern Festival, featuring colourful, handmade lanterns that artists from around the country have created especially for this event.

Together with all the galleries bursting with creative photography, paintings and sculpture, Hua Hin has established itself as the mecca of art in Thailand. If your family has differing interests in art, but want to spend a holiday together, Hua Hin is the perfect destination for the whole family.

Baan Sillapin is a Living Artist's Colony

In 1998, a watercolour painter named Tawee Kesa Ngam, had a brilliant idea for artists who struggled to find a creative to work in and an outlet to show their resulting artwork. He envisioned an entire village of artists who could all live close to one another and show their artwork collectively.

This would also serve to increase the number of potential art patrons by making it convenient to see a large number of artworks in one location. The artists of Hua Hin and Bangkok soon heard about and embraced the concept, and the Baan Sillapin Artist's Village was soon born.

Today, Baan Sillapin is thriving and home to nineteen artists from all over Thailand. If you're in the Market for artwork that is representational of Thailand, or you simply like to browse through art galleries on your holiday, Baan Sillapin should be your first destination in Hua Hin.

Cicada Market – A Place to Eat While You Browse

Cicada Market is a large, open, park-like space in the centre of town. It features art exhibitions, live music, dance and dramatic performances at its open-air theatre. But it also features stalls selling souvenirs, sweets and some of the best street food that Hua Hin has to offer.

The Market is open only on Friday, Saturdays and Sundays from 4 PM to 11:30 PM, after the day has cooled down. You'll be able to stroll along the paths in comfort and sample Hua Hin's famous seafood and other delicacies while you browse among the artworks for sale and take in the live performances.
